PAST EVENTS

The support and encouragement provided by Angels is vital for Artangel’s continued growth. Artangel acknowledges this generosity through a variety of events, special previews and private invitations.

May 2007:
Launch of Artangel's first international commission, VATNASAFN / LIBRARY OF WATER by Roni Horn
Angels joined Icelanders and Artangel supporters from around the world to celebrate the opening of Roni Horn's Library of Water. We travelled from Reykjavík to Stykkishólmur and everyone experienced the surreal beauty of the Icelandic landscape, which has inspired Horn for decades. Opening events included readings, Musical performances, and fresh Icelandic cuisine.

April 2007:
VIP Preview of Gerard Byrne at the Lisson Gallery
The Lisson Gallery invited Angels to a special preview of Irish artist Gerard Byrne's solo show at the gallery the night before its official opening. Over champagne and canapes, Angels took in Gerard's work and mingled with a crowd of artists, friends, and other Angels.

February 2007:
The Longplayer Conversation: Bruce Mau and David Adjaye
An annual event inspired by Jem Finer's Artangel commission, Longplayer brings together two cultural players who have never met before to discuss the implications of a project unfold over a thousand years and the impact and importance of longevity. This year, innovative designer, writer and teacher Bruce Mau, based in Toronto, sat down with London based architect David Adjaye.
