Location: Clerkenwell, London with some flexible working supported
Reporting to: Head of Production and working closely with Director 
Hours: 40 hours per week 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday with daily one hour lunch break

The Producer is an important part of the Artangel production team, reporting to the Head of Production, line managing the Assistant Producer and working alongside the Collection Curator. 

The Producer will work as part of the production department, with the research, development and delivery of Artangel’s programme of new physical and digital commissions.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:​

  • Research and development of key areas of Artangel’s programme of commissions
  • Undertake site research for future projects and build relationships with other partners in order to form a database of contacts
  • Provide Project Management support for Artangel’s programme of new commissions, including working closely with commissioned artists to realise the delivery of projects
  • Assist in all aspects of the delivery of projects, including but not limited to:
    • Providing research and development support to commissioned artists
    • Creating and managing project schedules to ensure the smooth, timely delivery of projects
    • Managing project budgets
    • Sourcing equipment and materials as required
    • Research and liaise with contractors for specialist aspects of production
    • Co-ordinate staffing for projects, including recruitment, contracting, visa requirements, inductions, rotas, and scheduling
    • Oversee arrangements for travel, accommodation and visa requirements for artists and project-related personnel
    • Assist in the issuing of contracts and Letters of Agreements for artists and project-related personnel
    • Assist in the safe and effective delivery of projects including composing Health and Safety documentation and Access documents where appropriate 
    • Assist in the installation and de-installation of projects and managing contractors on site as appropriate
    • Act as first point of call for Front of House manager on live projects
  • Provide basic technical and logistical support for Artangel’s programme of new commissions
  • Manage the contextual programme of project-related events and contribute to the generation of relevant accompanying interpretive materials
  • Ensure administrative records and files are kept in good order
  • Line manage the Assistant Producer and Production Interns as required to ensure their duties are carried out effectively

Essential experience:

  • A minimum of five years experience of producing new physical and digital projects in visual art, performance, film, music and/or theatre
  • Presenting artworks, and digital artworks, in museum, gallery or unusual settings 
  • Contributing to funding applications as part of a wider team
  • Stakeholder liaison
  • Managing production budgets and schedules
  • Drafting agreements 
  • Communicating presentations to a range of audiences
  • Experience working directly with artists in a producer capacity
  • Experience in leading and managing a team on project delivery

Desirable experience:

  • Experience in producing digital artwork projects
  • Experience in presenting works in off-site locations
  • Line management experience

Essential skills and knowledge:

  • Familiarity with galleries and museums across the UK 
  • Understanding of technology required for moving image presentations 
  • Understanding of the shifting technological landscape and the challenges that working with new platforms and software presents
  • Understanding of the flexibility and proactive approach required when fabricating, installing and de-installing artworks 
  • Highly effective administrative and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Very strong project management skills

  • Effective presentation and written skills
  • Understanding of data collection requirements
